Split Movements: Herds Push into Maasai Mara as Others Head South

While many herds have been seen crossing back south toward the Serengeti, fresh groups of wildebeest are still pushing north and entering the Maasai Mara. Along the Mara River, this mix of movements reflects the unpredictable nature of the Great Migration, where different herds respond differently to grazing conditions and weather patterns. Some are drawn deeper into Kenya’s Maasai Mara, while others return south in search of better pastures.
