Herd Pushing North at Crossing 4

Early yesterday morning, a large herd of wildebeest was seen crossing the Mara River at Crossing Point 4. The animals were heading north, moving deeper into the Northern Serengeti and into the Lamai Wedge.

The Lamai Wedge sits between the Mara River and the Kenyan border, a remote triangle of wilderness that forms the northernmost tip of Tanzania’s Serengeti ecosystem. It’s part of the same greater ecosystem as Kenya’s Maasai Mara, but separated from it by the river.

This movement marks a continuation of the migration within the Serengeti itself, as herds spread out across Lamai in search of fresh grass.
