Best Time to Visit Ashnil Mara Camp

The Masai Mara is excellent year round, but the most famous time is the Great Migration season from July to October, when millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River. This period offers dramatic river crossings and predator action. From December to February, the short dry season provides good wildlife viewing with fewer crowds. The green season from March to June brings lush scenery, migratory birds, and lower rates, though roads may be muddy during heavy rains.

How to Get to Ashnil Mara Camp

The camp is easy to access by both air and road. Daily flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport land at Keekorok or Olkiombo airstrip, followed by a short drive to camp. By road, the journey from Nairobi takes about 5 to 6 hours, passing through the Rift Valley and into the Mara. While longer, the drive offers scenic views and a chance to experience rural Kenya along the way.
