Recently sighted crossing the Sand River

A large herd of wildebeest was recently sighted crossing the Sand River, one of the earliest migration entry points into Kenya. The riverbank was packed with movement, and due to limited exit points on the opposite side, many wildebeest were seen circling and bunching up, waiting for a chance to push through.

Despite the challenges, several groups have already successfully crossed, joining the early arrivals pushing deeper into the Maasai Mara. Meanwhile, more herds are steadily arriving at the Mara River, where activity is also increasing.

With both Sand River and Mara River crossings in motion, the migration is now in full swing across the border. The northern Serengeti and Maasai Mara are seeing a sharp uptick in movement, and the drama of the Great Migration is truly underway.
