Nairobi National Park

All About Nairobi National Park

Nairobi National Park is a unique wildlife sanctuary located just 7 km from Nairobi’s city center, making it the only national park in the world bordering a capital city. Spanning 117 square kilometers, this park offers an incredible contrast between untamed African wilderness and the city’s skyline. It is home to diverse wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, hyenas, and over 400 bird species. The park is also a black rhino sanctuary, playing a crucial role in rhino conservation.

Visitors can enjoy game drives, walking safaris along the Nairobi Safari Walk, and visits to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and the Giraffe Centre nearby. Its accessibility makes it an ideal destination for a quick but unforgettable safari experience, offering the beauty of Kenya’s wildlife without the need for long-distance travel.

The best time to Visit Nairobi National Park

When is the Best Time to Visit Nairobi National Park?

Nairobi National Park is a year-round destination, but the best time for wildlife viewing depends on the season:

Dry Season

June to October. This is the best time for game drives as wildlife congregates around water sources, and the vegetation is sparse, making it easier to spot animals.

Wet Season

November to May. The landscape is lush and green, offering beautiful scenery and excellent birdwatching. However, some roads may be muddy, and wildlife disperses due to abundant water sources.

Peak Season

July to September & December to February. These months attract more visitors due to pleasant weather and abundant wildlife.

Low Season

March to May. Fewer tourists visit during this period due to long rains, making it an ideal time for a less crowded experience.
