The Grumeti Conservation Area was established in 1994 and is a protected area in Tanzania’s western Serengeti ecosystem, covering approximately 411.89 square kilometers.

It was created to safeguard the annual wildebeest migration route, this reserve features diverse habitats, including grasslands, woodlands, and riverine forests, supporting a wide array of wildlife.

Notably, the reserve is part of the larger Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, serving as a crucial corridor for migrating species. The Grumeti River, flowing through the reserve, attracts numerous animals, especially during the dry season, offering excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. The reserve is renowned for its role in the annual wildebeest migration, where vast herds traverse its plains, providing a spectacular natural display.
