Kicheche Mara Camp

Kicheche Mara Camp is an intimate and luxurious tented camp located in the Mara North Conservancy, one of the most wildlife rich private conservancies in the Maasai Mara ecosystem. This conservancy is known for its low tourism density, ensuring an exclusive safari experience with unrestricted game viewing away from the crowds found in the main reserve.

The camp features only eight spacious tents, each blending seamlessly into the surrounding acacia woodland while offering modern comforts. Guests can enjoy game drives, walking safaris, and night drives, all led by expert guides who provide deep insights into the Mara’s diverse wildlife. Being in a private conservancy also allows for off road game drives, enabling close up encounters with big cats and other iconic African animals.

Kicheche Mara Camp is particularly popular among photographers, nature lovers, and those seeking a more exclusive and immersive safari experience. With its focus on eco-friendly operations and sustainability, it offers a perfect blend of comfort, adventure, and responsible tourism.

Best Time to Visit Kicheche Mara Camp

Peak Season (July – October)

This is the best time to visit, as the Great Migration brings massive herds of wildebeest and zebras into the Maasai Mara. Predator activity is at its highest, and the dry conditions make wildlife spotting easier.

Green Season (November – May)

This is a quieter and more affordable time to visit, offering lush landscapes, excellent birdwatching, and dramatic predator-prey interactions during the calving season (January – March). Though some rain is expected, it rarely disrupts safari activities and adds to the scenic beauty of the region.

How to Get to Kicheche Mara Camp

By Air

The quickest way to reach Kicheche Mara Camp is by flying from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to Mara North Airstrip, a 45 minute flight. From the airstrip, it’s a 15 minute scenic drive to the camp, offering the opportunity to spot wildlife along the way.

By Road

Kicheche Mara Camp is accessible by a 5 to 6 hour drive from Nairobi. The journey takes travelers through the Great Rift Valley and is best done in a 4×4 vehicle, especially during the rainy season when roads can be muddy.
