Aberdare National Park was established in 1950and is a protected area in the Aberdare Mountain Range of central Kenya. It is approximately about 100 Kilometers from Nairobi and spans to 767 square kilometers. It ranges to an elevation range pf 2,000 to 4,000 meters, encompassing diverse landscapes such as mountain peaks, deep valleys, rivers, waterfalls, rainforests and bamboo forests.
Aberdare National Park host an array of wildlife that include elephants, leopards, East African wild dogs, giant forest hogs, waterbucks, mountain reedbucks, cape buffaloes, suni, side-striped jackals, elands, duikers, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, and Sykes monkeys. It’s also notably home to the rare bongo antelope and a significant population of eastern black rhinoceros.
