Olakira Migration Camp is a luxury mobile safari camp that moves seasonally to stay close to the dramatic path of the Great Migration across the Serengeti. From December to March, the camp is located in the southern Ndutu region, perfectly positioned for calving season when thousands of wildebeest give birth. Between June and November, Olakira relocates to the northern Serengeti near the Mara River, offering front row views of the river crossings and the intense predator-prey interactions that unfold.
Designed to blend seamlessly into its surroundings, the camp offers an intimate and authentic safari atmosphere. The spacious tents have open fronts, allowing uninterrupted views of the landscape and wildlife. Thoughtful touches like local furnishings, earthy tones, and eco-friendly features enhance the feeling of being at one with nature while still offering comfort and elegance.
Olakira Migration Camp promises a highly personalized safari experience, with excellent guiding, warm hospitality, and a true sense of adventure. Its mobility, exclusivity, and proximity to the migration make it a favorite for serious safari-goers seeking front-row seats to Africa’s greatest wildlife spectacle.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit depends on the part of the migration you wish to witness. From December to March, the camp is ideal for viewing the calving season in the southern Serengeti. From June to November, it’s perfect for the thrilling Mara River crossings in the north. Wildlife viewing is exceptional during both periods, but river crossings between July and October are particularly dramatic.
