Mara Entim Camp

About Mara Entim Camp

Mara Entim Camp is an exclusive, luxury tented safari retreat nestled in a secluded forested section of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, right along the banks of the Mara River. Its prime position offers uninterrupted access to one of the most iconic wildlife arenas in Africa. This camp is not only renowned for its luxurious comfort but also for being one of the best places to witness the drama of the Great Wildebeest Migration, especially the exhilarating river crossings that attract apex predators and excite seasoned safari-goers. The camp is purposefully designed to blend into its surroundings, offering an immersive, nature rich experience without compromising on elegance or privacy.

The accommodations consist of spacious en-suite tents with private verandas overlooking the Mara River, allowing for intimate wildlife viewing right from the comfort of your deck. The camp atmosphere is serene and intimate, thanks to its small size and personalized service. Inside, the tents are warm and inviting, with wooden floors, earthy tones, and cozy furnishings that reflect the surrounding savannah. Meals are served in open dining areas with scenic views, and evenings are spent around the fire pit sharing stories under the African stars.

What truly sets Mara Entim apart is its unrivaled location, the camp is situated in a zone that allows for quick access to key crossing points, meaning guests are among the first to reach major wildlife events. It also means early morning game drives start right where the action happens, often catching predators on the hunt or herds moving at sunrise. This immediate access to wildlife rich zones makes it a top pick for photographers and enthusiasts alike.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Mara Entim Camp depends on what kind of safari experience you’re after:

July to October is the most dramatic and popular season, as this is when the Great Migration reaches the Mara. River crossings, big cat activity, and predator-prey encounters are at their peak.

January to March is warm and dry, with excellent predator sightings, clear skies, and fewer tourists, a fantastic time for a more peaceful safari with crisp photography conditions.

April to June sees the long rains. It’s the quietest season, but the landscapes are lush, the rates are lower, and there’s still plenty of resident wildlife and birdlife.

November to December brings short rains, a refreshed landscape, and many newborn animals, which attract predators and offer fascinating viewing.

How to Get There

By Air

The easiest and fastest way to reach the camp is by flying from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to Ol Kiombo Airstrip, which takes about 45 minutes. The camp is a 15 to 20 minute drive from the airstrip, and the transfer doubles as a game drive.

By Road

If you’re up for an adventure, you can drive from Nairobi, which takes approximately 6 to 7 hours. The drive passes through scenic rural Kenya and into the savannah. A 4×4 vehicle is essential for the last portion of the route, especially during the rainy seasons.
