Kicheche Bush Camp

Kicheche Bush Camp is an intimate and eco-friendly tented safari camp located in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy, which borders the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This exclusive conservancy is known for its high density of big cats, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs, while also offering a more private and less crowded safari experience compared to the main reserve.

The camp features only six luxurious, spacious tents, each offering stunning views of the surrounding savannah. With no permanent structures, the camp maintains a minimal environmental footprint while providing an authentic bush experience. Activities at Kicheche Bush Camp include day and night game drives, guided walking safaris, and photography focused safaris led by expert guides.

A key highlight of staying in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy is the ability to go off road and do night drives, which are not permitted inside the Maasai Mara Reserve. This allows for close wildlife encounters and incredible photography opportunities, making the camp a top choice for serious safari enthusiasts and photographers.

Best Time to Visit Kicheche Bush Camp

Peak Season (July to October)

This is the best time to visit, as it coincides with the Great Migration when millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara in search of fresh grazing. Predator activity is at its peak, making it a thrilling period for safaris. The dry conditions also make wildlife spotting easier.

Green Season (November to May)

The landscape is lush and vibrant, with fewer tourists and lower accommodation rates. Calving season (January to March) brings plenty of predator action as lions, leopards, and cheetahs hunt newborn animals. Birdwatching is also at its best, with migratory species present.

How to Get to Kicheche Bush Camp

By Air

The fastest and most convenient way to reach Kicheche Bush Camp is by flying from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to Mara Ol Kiombo Airstrip, which takes about 45 minutes. The camp provides a 25 minute transfer from the airstrip to the camp.

By Road

Driving from Nairobi to Kicheche Bush Camp takes approximately 5 to 6 hours. The journey takes you through the Great Rift Valley and requires a 4×4 vehicle, especially during the rainy season when the roads can be muddy.
