Ngare Serian is an intimate and luxurious safari camp set within the private Mara North Conservancy, adjacent to Kenya’s renowned Maasai Mara National Reserve. The camp lies tucked away along the banks of the Mara River, providing a serene and secluded atmosphere where guests can truly disconnect and immerse themselves in the wild. Its exclusive location, accessible only via a narrow rope bridge, ensures privacy and intimacy, making it ideal for honeymooners, small groups, or travelers seeking a quiet escape.
The camp features a charming blend of rustic elegance and contemporary comfort. With only a handful of tents, the ambiance is peaceful and uncrowded, offering personalized attention and bespoke safari experiences. Each tent is elevated on wooden decks and styled with colonial era furnishings, complete with open air bathtubs and river views. The sounds of flowing water and occasional wildlife noises serve as a gentle reminder of the raw beauty that surrounds the camp.
Ngare Serian places strong emphasis on authentic and private safari experiences. Guests are assigned a private vehicle, guide, and spotter for the duration of their stay. This guarantees flexibility in game drives, walking safaris, and night drives, allowing guests to explore at their own pace. It is also the only camp in the Mara North Conservancy with private access to a 1,500 acre walking concession, ensuring thrilling and uncrowded wilderness encounters.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Ngare Serian is during the dry seasons, from late June to October and again from mid December to early March. These months offer excellent game viewing opportunities as wildlife concentrates around water sources and vegetation is less dense. July to October coincides with the Great Wildebeest Migration, which frequently brings massive herds and predator action into the region. The short dry spell in January and February is also ideal for fewer crowds and great visibility.
How to Get There
Ngare Serian is best accessed by air. Guests can take a scheduled or chartered flight from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the Mara North Airstrip, which takes about 1 hour. From the airstrip, it’s a short but scenic game drive to the camp. The road option from Nairobi takes about 5 to 6 hours, but due to the remoteness and exclusivity of the camp, flying is the more comfortable and time efficient choice.
